Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships give you the chance to learn and gain nationally recognised qualifications while getting a weekly or monthly wage. If you are doing an Apprenticeship with an employer you will get a wage of at least £95 a week, all employed apprentices must receive a wage of no less than £95 per week. However, recent research found that apprentices earn an average of £170 net pay per week.
There are lots of Apprenticeships to choose from such as business administration, construction, engineering, manufacturing and more. The time it takes to complete an Apprenticeship varies from one to two years, althought some can take up to five years. This will depend on the profession and the level you choose.
There are three levels of Apprenticeships available to young people aged 16 and over:
-
Level 1 - Apprenticeships - equivalent to five good GSCE passes
-
Level 2 - Advanced Apprenticeships - equivalent to two A-level passes
-
Level 3 - Higher Apprenticeships - work based learning qualifications such as NVQ level 4, and in some cases, a knowledge-based qualification such as a Foundation Degree
