Equal Opportunities

Equal Opportunities laws make it illegal to discriminate against people on the grounds of race, gender and disability.

There are 4 Acts of Parliament which uphold the principles of equal opportunities:

  • the Equal Pay Act (EPA) 1970
  • the Sex Discrimination Act (SDA) 1975
  • Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (Amendment 2005)
  • Race Relations Act 1976 (Amendment 2000)

Sadly discrimination does happen in many places, including school and the work place.  If you feel you have been discriminated against there are organisations which can give you help, advice and support.
