Did you know?

 

Although children over 14 years of age are allowed to work a limited number of hours, there are still areas of work where they are not allowed.  Examples are:

  • cinemas, discos, fairgrounds, amusement arcades
  • theatres - unless participating in a show
  • milk/fuel deliveries
  • commercial kitchens
  • telephone sales
  • refuse collecting
  • preparation of meat for sale
  • exposure to adult materials/situations
  • street trading

Children are not allowed to work before 7.00 am or after 7.00 pm any day

Children cannot work for more than 2 hours on a school day or Sundays

Children cannot work for more than 4 hours without a break of 1 hour

Children must have  2-week break from work during summer school holidays
