Although children over 14 years of age are allowed to work a limited number of hours, there are still areas of work where they are not allowed. Examples are:
- cinemas, discos, fairgrounds, amusement arcades
- theatres - unless participating in a show
- milk/fuel deliveries
- commercial kitchens
- telephone sales
- refuse collecting
- preparation of meat for sale
- exposure to adult materials/situations
- street trading
Children are not allowed to work before 7.00 am or after 7.00 pm any day
Children cannot work for more than 2 hours on a school day or Sundays
Children cannot work for more than 4 hours without a break of 1 hour
Children must have 2-week break from work during summer school holidays
