Running away from home
Running away from home and sleeping rough can leave young people vulnerable to dangerous situations involving crime, drug and alcohol abuse, and other serious health problems.
If you're under 16 you can't normally leave home unless there are serious problems. You should contact your Connexions Personal Adviser or Social Services to discuss this before you do anything. If you're 16 or 17 you can move out if your parent/guardian agree to it. If they don't and you leave anyway you could be reported to the police as a missing person.
If you are in the care of the Local Authority you should speak to your Social Worker/Leaving Care Worker who will give you help and advice. Your Connexions Personal Adviser will also support you in finding accommodation and sorting out your finances click here to find your nearest Connexions office or Tel: 024 7660 7900.
