Young Parents

Being a young parent can be difficult, especially if you are also trying to study or work.  Care to Learn is available to young parents who are still in education and training to help with childcare and travel costs.  The course you are on does not need to lead to a formal qualification, but you must be under 20 on the day you start.  The money is available to both young mums and dads (but only one claim can be made).

For further information download the Care to Learn booklet or speak to a Connexions Personal Adviser (click here for contact details).  Information is also available at www.direct.gov.uk or you can call the Care to Learn helpline 0800 121 8989.

You may also be entitled to Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA).  Click here for details
