SHADOW
SHADOW provides a range of workshops such as; Contraception, Relationships, Sexuality, Homophobic Bullying and Sexual Health and Protection. Workshops and programmes are also aimed at developing young people’s self esteem and confidence so that they are able to assert their own choices and resist peer pressures to engage in risk taking behaviours.
SHADOW is a partnership between Coventry Primary Care Trust and Coventry Youth Service and works in schools, youth clubs, and other community venues.
In school term time the project works in all nineteen secondary schools in Coventry, with priority being given to the seven secondary schools in the six health action areas. These are Barr’s Hill, Ernesford Grange, Foxford, Lyng Hall, Sidney Stringer, Westwood and Woodway Park. SHADOW contributes to each school’s health curriculum by engaging with pupils through the PSHE timetable.
SHADOW also engages with a variety of other agencies who work with young people and these include Youth Service clubs and projects; Youth Offending Service; training providers; voluntary organisations including those working with refugees and asylum seekers.
