Sexual Health
Sex is a very individual thing - what's right for one person is not necessarily right for another. Some young people mature physically and mentally earlier than others and are ready for sex at an earlier age.
Don't be afraid to say "no"! If you feel uncertain whether you want to embark on a sexual relationship, just follow some simple guidelines:
- Don't be rushed into something if you have doubts or it doesn't feel right
- Don't think "everyone else is doing it so I should"
- Don't believe everything you hear - lots of young people tell lies or exaggerate things just to sound more grown up
- Don’t have sex as a way of keeping your boyfriend/girlfriend – it won’t work, and you can end up feeling hurt and humiliated
Trust your instincts - you know best!
"Practice safe sex" - what does that mean?
