How can I protect myself?

It’s important to get help as ignoring bullying will not make it stop.   Speak to someone you can trust such as a parent, teacher or friend.  Schools take bullying very seriously and the culprits will be dealt with - but this will only happen if you report what is going on.

Sometimes it worth playing bullies at their own game.  For instance, if a bully is making nasty remarks try to ignore them as this will make it appear that their comments are having no effect on you.   With a bit of luck they will get fed up and leave you alone.

If the bullying is physical, perhaps you could think about taking up self-defence classes, judo or martial arts classes as these may help you to feel more confident about protecting yourself.  The truth is that most bullies are cowards, and as soon as you stand up to them they will back off.
