Personal Safety

There is more to think about than just the physical side-affects of drink, there is the safety aspects as well.  For instance, spiking drinks has become common practice and is sometimes done by people with the intention of robbing or sexually assaulting their victim.   Some misguided people do it as a joke, although it's not funny and can have serious consequences.

To avoid problems stick to a few simple rules:
  • Don't swap or share drinks
  • Don't accept drinks from strangers
  • Don't leave your drink unattended
  • If you start to 'feel funny' get a friend to take you home
  • Avoid walking home alone
  • Don't use unlicensed cabs
  • Don't get in a car with a driver who's been drinking
You are also more likely to have an accident when you're "off your head" with drink as your sense of danger is impaired.

Remember - your personal safety is your responsibility.
